Abstract

The problem discussed in this thesis is how the role of the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru City in increasing public awareness of paying zakat and the efforts of BAZNAS of Pekanbaru City to raise public awareness. Meanwhile, this study aims to investigate the roles of National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru City in increasing public awareness of paying zakat. The type of this study is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The conclusion of this study shows that the BAZNAS of Pekanbaru City has collaborated with various agencies, such as RRI Radio, Al Hamra Radio, and other interactive dialogues of zakat events, as well as always being active in providing information through social media such as Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and BAZNAS webside, and providing brochures on the procedures for calculating zakat, providing zakat banners, giving awards to muzakkis who have paid zakat, as a form of BAZNAS policy to maintain the muzakkis, and always actively encouraging to pay zakat in collaboration with TELKOMSEL by sending direct Broadcase SMS automatically, such as invitations to pay zakat, gratitudes for paying zakat and notifications that the zakat has been distributed to the mustahiks, which aims to maintain the trust of the muzakkis.
