Abstract

The Relationship of Parenting Parents to Students' Interpersonal Communication in Public Elementary School 24 Tanjuang Bonai, Lintau Buo Utara District Aulia Rahman 17110164 This research is motivated by the number of interpersonal communication problems arising from students at the elementary school level, the problems that arise are caused by various factors, one of the most dominant is thought to be the various forms of parenting styles given to children at home. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between parenting and interpersonal communication of students at the 24 Tanjuang Bonai Public Elementary School, Lintau Buo Utara District. The method used in this research is quantitative method with the type of research used is descriptive correlation research. Subjects were students in grades IV, V and VI SDN 24 Tanjuang Bonai, Lintau Buo Utara District. The instruments used were a closed questionnaire about parenting styles and a student interpersonal communication questionnaire which was arranged based on a Likert scale model. The results of the study illustrate that the parenting patterns given by parents to children in grades IV, V and VI SDN 24 Tanjung Bonai, Lintau Buo Utara District are classified as good and the description of students' interpersonal communication is in the good category but still far from expected, it can be concluded that there is a relationship positive correlation (r = 0.986) between parenting styles provided by parents with interpersonal communication of elementary school students.
