Abstract

In the production process, the fluids that are also produced are oil, gas and water. The produced formation water must be treated first because it has a large ion content which will adversely affect the water injection well equipment. One way to treat formation water is using Graphene Oxide oil palm shell, Graphene Oxide has a high level of adsorption capability with an excellent removal rate of organic and inorganic pollutants. Graphene Oxide is produced by thermal methods, namely pyrolysis, activation using 60% HNO3, sonication process by mixing surfactants and centrifugation with 1000 Rpm, To determine the success of the synthesis of Graphene Oxide, several characterizations were carried out, namely FTIR, Uv-Vis and XRD. The results of FTIR characterization showed the presence of C = C, C = O, C-O and O-H bonds. The presence of these 4 chemical bonds has proven that the synthesized palm oil shell has become Graphene Oxide. Uv-vis characterization is seen at the peak of 234 nm, this proves that the material is Graphene Oxide and the XRD characterization results show that an angle of 2θ is 26.59 ° that the material is amorphous and is present at the peak of graphite. The water treatment process was carried out by immersing oil palm shell graphene oxide into 800 ml of formation water for 4 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours and various concentrations of Graphene oxide of 0.1 gr, 0.3 gr and 0.5 gr. The recommended treatment results are at the immersion time of 12 hours with a concentration of graphene oxide 0.5 gr and 0.3 gr because the ion content decreases and the best conductivity values. The standard of turbidity for the quality of water injected into the injection well is ≤ 5 NTU. The water treatment process of oil palm shell graphene oxide with a concentration of 0.1 gr, 0.3 gr and 0.5 gr with a variation of immersion time of 4 hours, 8 hours and 12 hours has met the turbidity standard of injection water quality. The recommended results are at a concentration of 0.3 gr and 0.5 gr of graphene oxide with a soaking time of 12 hours.
