Abstract

Sechool culture is a set of values that underlie behavior, traditions, daily habits that are practiced by principals, teacher, students, and parents. The problems that occur in class V at SDN 193 Pekanbaru are collecting assignments that are not on time, doing random assignments, assignments that are done by parents. This is brcause students only play games, so they don’t want to know their assignments and only play games. This is not in accordance with the objectives, where the purpose of character education is to improve the quality and results of education that leads to the formation of students’ character and morals as a whole, integrated and balanced. This type of qualitative research using a descriptive approach was carried out on 1 school principal, 1 class V teacher, 5 students and 5 parents. The role of school culture on the character formation of fifth grade students at SDN 193 Pekanbaru is a routine activity that becomes a habit in the daily life of students at school. In the assessment of KI 1 Spiritual and KI 2 Social, the role of parents also greatly influences the character of students, so there needs to be good cooperation between teachers and parents. Currently students have good character and great interest in learning.
