Abstract

This Research aims to find out and analyze how Framing of the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Setya Novanto Relates to e-KTP Corruption Cases in the main report tempo Magazine weekly Edition of November 13-19 and the 20-26 November 2017 and in the main report Gatra magazine weekly Edition of November 16-22 and November 23-29 2017. Basically the mass media has a role in defining how reality should be understood and how reality should be explained in a certain way to the public. With the comparison between the Tempo Weekly Magazine and Gatra Weekly Magazine in the November 2017 edition with the same news, Setya Novanto, we can see the framing of a media in making news. This Research used a qualitative descriptive method with a framing analysis approach from Robert Entman. The results of the Research indicate that in Tempo weekly Magazine emphasized the issue of the development of the e-KTP corruption case related to Setya Novanto from the start of the determination of the suspect to the process of detention. Gatra weekly Magazine stressed the issue of how internal the Golkar Party was in dealing with the Setya Novanto corruption case In Tempo Weekly Magazine discussed the Setya Novanto-related e-KTP corruption case as legal news. This can be seen from the news coverage which only emphasizes the legal aspect. All problems related to each Setya novanto are drawn into the jurisdiction. Whereas in the Gatra Weekly Magazine, discussing the issue of Setya Novanto to the element of political reporting, namely the status of Setya Novanto who is the Chair of the Golkar Party, Gatra Weekly Magazine discusses the replacement of Setya Novanto who was asked to resign from his position.
