Abstract

This research is to determine the role of World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) in the conservation of Sumatran elephants in Tesso Nilo Riau National Park. The endangered population of Sumatran elephants makes WWF an enviromental organization that also deals with rare species and their habitats and ecosystems. Researchers analyzed the various efforts made by WWF in the conservation of the Sumatran elephants population in Tesso Nilo National Park so that this species can survive and thrive in their habitat. The main problem in this research is about the role of the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF)in the conservation of the Sumatran Elephants in Tesso Nilo National Park and what factors are the obstacles to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in the conservation of the Sumatranelephants in Tesso Nilo National Park, Riau. The research methodused by the author in this study is the empirical legal research method, namely legal research is conceptualized as a social institution that is actually related to other social variables. This type of research is descriptive, namely the intellect of analyzing the results of data processing to the level of the description, namely to provide an objective description of the research subject based on variable data obtained from the research group being investigated and not intended for hypothesis testing. This study aims to describe the role of the Worls Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) in the conservation of Sumatran elephants in Tesso Nilo National Park Riau in a systematic, factual, and accurate manner. The research results show that WWF has played them role as an international organization that is concerned with environmental issues in overcoming the extinction of Sumatran elephants. The program carried out by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Tesso Nilo National Park has resulted in an increase in the population of Sumatran elephants and reduced elephant mortality. Therefore, the role of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is quite significant in the conservation of the Sumatran elephant population in Riau’s Tesso Nilo National Park.
