Abstract

Based on this research, it examines the ability to speak effectively with storytelling techniques for Class VIII students of SMP Metta MaitreyaKecamatan Marpoyan Damai, Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 Academic Year. The problem in this study is how the ability to speak effectively with storytelling techniques for Class VIII students of SMP Metta Maitreya Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai, Pekanbaru Academic Year 2020/2021. The purpose of this study is to describe, analyze, interpret and conclude effective speaking skills with storytelling techniques for Class VIII students of SMP Metta Maitreya Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai Pekanbaru in the 2020/2021 Academic Year in a systematic way so that they can find out the true objective picture. The theory used in this study is the theory of Hartono 2007. The sample in this study was 62 students. This research method uses descriptive quantitative method. The results of the conclusions of this study are the average value assessed from the aspect of fluency in the good category, namely 78,63 out of 62 students.The average value assessed from the aspect of diction accuracy is categorized as sufficient, namely 73,79 out of 62 students. The average score assessed from the aspect of reasoning was categorized as good, namely 77,02 out of 62 students. The average score assessed from the intonation aspect in the good category was 76.61 out of 62 students. So overall the ability to speak effectively with storytelling techniques for Class VIII Middle School students, Metta Maitreya Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai Pekanbaru for the 2020/2021 academic year, is categorized as good with an average score of 76,51.
