Abstract

ABSTRACT Jumalin Prayogo (164110258), This research is entitled: Effect of Compost of Palm Oil Bunches and NPK 16:16:16 on the Growth of Oil Palm Plants (Elais guenensiss Jacq) in Main Nursery on Red Yellow Podsolic Media Under the guidance of Mr. Drs. Maizar, MP. This research has been carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Islamic University of Riau, for four months starting from September to December 2020. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving palm oil bunches compost and NPK 16:16:16 in the main nursery on red yellow podzolic media. . The design used was a completely randomized factorial design consisting of two factors. The first factor is oil palm empty fruit bunch compost (K) which has 4 levels: 0, 90, 180, 270 grams/polybag and the second factor is NPK 16:16:16 (P) fertilizer consisting of 4 levels: 82, 142, 202, 262 grams per polybag. The parameters observed were increase in plant height, increase in the number of midribs, longest leaf midrib length, increase in stem girth, number of primary roots and root volume. Observational data were analyzed statistically and continued with the further test of Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of palm oil bunches compost and NPK 16:16:16 had a significant effect on the observation parameters, namely the increase in plant height, increase in the number of midribs, longest leaf midrib length, increase in stem girth, number of primary roots and root volume. With the best treatment, compost of oil palm empty fruit bunches was 270 grams/polybag and NPK 16:16:16 202 grams per polybag (K3P3). The main effect of oil palm empty fruit bunch compost was significant for all parameter observations. The best treatment was given by giving 270 grams/polybag (K3). The main effect of giving NPK 16:16:16 was significant on all observation parameters with 202 grams/polybag.
