Abstract

LAMBOK PUTRA HISKIA (164210434) Risk Analysis of Red Chili Production in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City. Under the guidance of Mr. Dr. Ir. Saipul Bahri, M. Ec. Red chili production in Rumbai District in 2014−2018 seems to fluctuate. The highest production was in 2018 which was 4,576.50 Tons. While the lowest production was in 2014 as much as 325 tons. The average growth rate of red chili production in Rumbai District for the last six years is 1.44%. But unfortunately, in 2019 red chili production experienced a significant decline with a growth rate of -0.81% or decreased by 3,732.90 tons from the previous year. This study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics of farmers, (2) Sources of production risk, (3) How big is the risk of production, (4) The influence of production factors, and (5) Strategies to reduce the risk of red chili production in the District. Tassel of Pekanbaru City. The research location was conducted in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City by taking a sample of 30 farmers by purposive sampling (deliberately) in Muara Fajar Timur and Palas Villages with the consideration that these areas can represent because they have a diverse number of farmers compared to other areas in Rumbai District. Research variables were examined quantitatively and qualitatively. The data analysis technique used on production risk is the coefficient of variation (CV), while the influence of production factors uses the Cobb-Douglas production function. The results showed (1) The characteristics of red chili farmers in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City were in the productive age group, namely the average age of 41.27 years, the average length of education of farmers 9.70 years (junior high school education level), business experience the average number of farmers is 5.40 years, and the number of dependents of the farmer's family is 4.63 people on average. (2) The sources of risk for red chili farming production include: weather, pest and disease attacks, seed quality, fertilizer quality, and human resources. (3) The risk of red chili farming production has a CV value of 0.42 which is smaller than 0.5 so it means that the production risk experienced by farmers is in the low category. (4) Production factors that affect the production of red chili farming which are significant at the level of confidence =5% include the number of seeds and the amount of manure. Meanwhile, what is significant at the level of confidence =10% is the amount of KCL fertilizer and the number of workers. And (5) the strategy carried out by red chili farmers in Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City.
