Abstract

The presence of landfills does not infrequently cause problems because of the impact that can be caused by a pile of rubbish such as an unpleasant odor, the appearance of green flies can even trigger a gas explosion in the garbage pile, the purpose of this study was to determine the impact of the existence of a final disposal site on surrounding community. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method, which is by conducting interviews with key informants and informants who are considered to have links to the research topics raised. The impact received by the people who live around landfills is nothing but water pollutin, air pollution and soil pollution. As a result of the pollution also impact on public health such as contracting skin diseases, respitatory problems, dirrhea and dengue fever. The lack of education about the dangers arising from garbage by the management of this final disposal site to the community who live around the landfills is one of the cause of problem that lead to environmental demage or pollution. For that reason, green criminology as a theory use in this study functions to see what a phenomena occur due to pollution and environmental pollution that occur around the landfill of Muara Fajar Pekanbaru City.
