Abstract

Indonesia is a country with the need for bentonite is quite high, but Indonesia itself is not able to exploit the existing potential and still import products from abroad, based on geological map and previous research that in the Desa badak, Sail, Tenayan Raya, Kota Pekanbaru, Riau has the potential of clay illite in lieu of bentonite which is useful for weighting agents in drilling mud that has a composition almost identical with the composition of bentonite. To understand the potential of clay Illite is conducted geoelectrical investigation using Schlumberger configuration method or commonly called Vertical Electrical Sounding consisting of 4 points of inquiry on an area of 19,873 m2, so from The Geoelectrical investigation can produce rock resistivity, rock thickness, and the depth of rock that is processed data using IP2WIN Software and calculates the volume method of potential clay Illite using mean-area method and use AutoCad software. The results of this geoelectrical survey showed a layer of clay illite divided into 2 parts, namely, a thin layer and a thick layer. Potential clay illite get results with such mean-area method for a thin layer of 41671.2 tons and a thick layer of 667695.5 tons with a total of whole clay illite 709366.7 tons. Results of the potential of clay illite from the results of AutoCad software obtained a thin layer of 48,921.73 tons and for a thick layer of 757,735.18 tons with a total overall is 806,656.9 Ton
