Abstract

This study examines in depth the Effectiveness of City Branding "Pekanbaru Smart City Madani" in Creating the Identity of the City of Pekanbaru. The purpose of this study is the first, to determine the effectiveness of the City Branding Pekanbaru Smart City Madani in creating the identity of the city of Pekanbaru. The second is to find out the Obstacles in the implementation of City Branding Pekanbaru City “Pekanbaru Smart City Madani”. The research method used in this research is the Mix Method approach, with Exploratory Sequential forms, and Explorative types. Indicators in this study is Presence, Place, Potential, People, Pulse, Prerequisite. The results of this study are based on the lowest percentage questionnaire in item 7 question that is equal to 54,58 %. As for item 7 questions about easy or difficult menc ari work in the city of Pekanbaru , and p ersentase highest in item 5 questions by 74,16%. The question item 5 is about the formation of a plenary mosque to support the establishment of the Pekanbaru Smart City Madani. Results of the study is based on interviews compiled based on six indicators of research, Presence, the Government of the city of Pekanbaru less than the maximum in disseminating City Branding Pekanbaru Smart City Madani, Place, Space Public and Space Open Green who provided the Government of the City of Pekanbaru yet not used as it should be by the people. Potential, to look for a job in the city of Pekanbaru Quite Difficult. People, public support for the realization of Pekanbaru Smart City Madani. Pulse, Kota Pekanbaru has a variety of characteristics typical. And Prerequisite, Government of City of Pekanbaru already optimizing Infrastructure Kota Pekanbaru. The conclusion from this research is the implementation of City Branding "Pekanbaru Smart City Madani is still not effective, because there are other indicators that have not been reached, such as Presence, Place, Potential. And in implementing Smart City Madani there are several obstacles, namely the lack of government awareness in socializing Smart City Madani, the lack of public awareness to understand Smart City Madani, the still occurring abuse of public spaces and green spaces, the minimum number of jobs, the lack of budget or funds.
