Abstract

Mobile Legends Game is an online game which is an online game that is a phenomenon in all major cities in Indonesia, including in the city of Pekanbaru. Mobile Legends fans of games ranging from children, adolescents to adults as well as the Avatarius Squad community. Mobile Legends game is an action strategy game that requires cohesiveness. This study aims to determine how the Phenomenon of Mobile Legend Online Games in Pekanbaru (Phenomenology Study in the Avatarius Squad community). In shaping the meaning of this study, using the phenomenological theory related to the motives in playing the Mobile Legend Game This research method is a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach from Alfred Schutz. In this study the location of the study was conducted in Pekanbaru City. This research uses purposive sampling technique. The informants in this study were 7 core players from the avatarius squad community consisting of 1 chairman, 5 core players and 1 reserve player. Data collected through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the motives for playing Mobile Game Legend consisted of past motives (due motives), namely hobbies, trends, influence of friends and entertainment motives, as well as future motives (motives for) in the form of popularity and were more valued in playing games.
