Abstract

This research is to study the communication patterns of parents and children of active gadget users in developing children's character in Pekanbaru. This research uses a qualitative method using descriptive. The informants in this study are parents and children who watch 0-14 years who are active gadget users in Pekanbaru with an average of using a gadget for at least 5 hours a day. This research data source consists of primary data and secondary data in getting data to find out the Communication Patterns of Parents and Children Active Gadget Users in the Character Development of Children in Pekanbaru. Primary data in this study consisted of interviews conducted with informants. Then the secondary data of this study is the data that has been available or supporting data in the study are documents, monographs, books and other research results. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of interviews conducted with parents and children, field photo documentation, documentation from the website, laws, articles and theories as well as direct observation in the field to obtain data. Data analysis in this study consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification or approval. Based on the data processed by researchers regarding the Communication Patterns of Parents with Children Active Gadget Users in the Character Development of Children in Pekanbaru, the authors discuss the patterns of communication between parents and children active gadget users in developing children's characters in Pekanbaru included in the category of communication patterns.
