Abstract

This study aims to analyze: 1) The characteristics of beef suppliers in Kerumutan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province, 2) Supply chain mechanisms related to product flow, information flow and financial flow in beef businesses, 3) Beef supply chain marketing efficiency. This study used a survey method, which was carried out from March 2021 to September 2021. The respondents of this study were cattle breeders, cattle traders, retailers and consumers. The data used are primary data and secondary data. This research was analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that 1). The average age of breeders was 45 years, cattle traders were 52 years, retailers were 53 years old and consumers were 39 years old. The gender of breeders, traders (live cattle) and retailers were male and all consumers were female. . The education of breeders is at junior high school level, cattle traders do not receive formal education, retailers and consumers are at high school level. 7 years of livestock farming experience, 13 years of cattle traders, 22 years of retailers. The number of dependents of the family of breeders, traders (live cattle), retailers and consumers is 4 people. 2). The mechanism of the beef supply chain in Kerumutan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province, distributes products in the form of beef starting from farmers selling cows to cattle traders, then beef traders to retailers, then retailers selling beef to consumers The flow of information starts from farmers to traders cattle communication is done by telephone or sms related to the existing cattle inventory and the prevailing price in the market, then from the cattle trader with the retailer the communication is done by telephone related to the existing cattle inventory and when the delivery time, then from the retailer with the consumer information that provided by retailers is the selling price of beef while the financial flow starts from consumers to farmers for payments obtained by each link in the chain involved and the payment system is in cash. 3). The marketing cost of beef is Rp. 4,899.32, the marketing margin of beef is Rp. 30,000, farmer's share is 76.9% and marketing efficiency is 3.77%, so it can be said that beef marketing in Kerumutan District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province is efficient.
