Abstract

Abstrak Student's opinion about corona virus news on social media twitter (study on students of the faculty of communication sciences of riau Islamic University) Muhammad Syaifullah (169110005) An opinion is an opinion or the result of a current thought. Student opinions often appear on social media because students often use social media in their daily lives. The news contained on social media forms a series of opinions from students, in the news that is often discussed and debated one of which is the news about the coronavirus. From the coronavirus pandemic makes the emergence of differences of opinion among students. This study aims to see the opinions of students of the Faculty of Communication, Riau Islamic University about viru corona on social media twitter. This study applies descriptive methods and relates problems to the opinions of experts. In the study researchers used the theory of limited effects from Paul Lazarfelt where the audience has a defense against changes in attitudes and opinions that already exist. From the terror, students have their own opinions and also have a variety of responses to the news of coronavirus on social media twitter. From the results of this study, researchers obtained that students of the Faculty of Communication, Riau Islamic University have different opinions, one of them some argue that the news of corona virus changes everyone's lifestyle such as using masks in daily life, diligently maintaining health, diligently washing hands after going out or when doing activities and there are also those who say that the news is mostly in a direction that scares readers on social media twitter, so many readers are afraid to go out of the house.
