Abstract

Parenting is how parents guide, nurture, educate, and provide direction and guidance to their children in behaving in order to become better individuals in the future. The are many kinds of parenting, therefore, if there is a wrong parenting given by parents to their child, it will certainly cause the child to rebel and tend to commit a delinquency. The influence of wrong parenting also causes children to become wild so that they rebel against regulations that limit their freedom. This rebellious attitude is called juvenile delinquency. This study aims to determinate the effect of parenting on juvenile delinquency in SMAN 1 Kampar Kiri Hulu. This research is mix method, which uses a mixed quantitative and qualitative method with the type of field research and survey. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire given to parents and students who commit delinquency. The result of this study indicate that the level of influence of parenting, namely variable X has an influence on juvenile delinquency, namely variable Y as much os 0.742 or 74,2%, there are as many 25,8% juvenile delinquency rate which is influenced by other variables outside the independent variables of this study.
