Abstract

This study aims to find out how illegal hunting and illegal wildlife trade activities are carried out in the Sentajo Protection Forest, Sentajo Raya District, Kuantan Singingi Regency. The informants of this research consisted of the government, animal hunters and animal traders and the local community. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. After obtaining the required data and information, it is analyzed through qualitative data grouping and research conclusions are drawn. The results of the study concluded that the activities carried out by hunters and traders of protected wildlife in the Sentajo Protected Forest were against and against the law. Where the main activity corresponds to the problem in this study, namely the illegal hunting of protected animals in the Santajo Forest and then trading of protected animals in several areas of Kuantan Singingi Regency. This activity of hunting and trading of protected wildlife is due to the desire to make profit, due to demand or consumers and the interest of customers to obtain illegally protected wildlife.
