Abstract

Internet in education institute giving a big role on the achievement of sciences and becomes a major tool in academic institutions. One of education institute that has already provided internet access for the students is islamic university of Riau. Instead of using wires internet connections (LAN), UIR are also provide internet access through a wi-fi network is known as UIR WIFI. It includes the certain areas where the students have be able to access internet with wireless network (without the cable) by using laptop, notebook, and smartphone. Due to the long use this facility, thus the study is aimed to determine the quality factors of UIR service in Riau Islamic University. This research employs Quality of Experience variable (QoE) with sub variable of Quality of Effectiveness, Usability, Quality of Efficiency, and Context. This research involve 1310 Riau Islamic University active students as the participants who occupy 20 questionnaires using random sampling. Then proceed with network quality testing using Quality of Service (QoS) variable with Troughput, Delay, Jitter, Packet Loss parameter by running calculations on video streaming. The results of the study were the quality of UIR WIFI based on the user perceptions and service testing was on good terms, it produced two factors that were Quality of Effectiveness and Context which became dominant factors from QoE on UIR WIFI. The suggestions for further research are to be able to employs the other sub variables and testing a streaming video server or on a web.
