Abstract

The Phenomenon of Using the TikTok Application as a Self-Existence Event (In SMPN 4 Langgam Students) Mizda Bella Silvia 169110086 TikTok is an application that provides unique and interesting special effects that users of this application can easily use to create short videos that will attract the attention of many people who see them. The TikTok application is a social network and music video that was launched in September 2016. In this TikTok application a lot of teenagers play this application for the purpose of popularity. This study aims to find out what are the impacts of using the TikTok Application as a Self-Existence Event for Students of SMPN 4 Langgam. This research uses qualitative research with Alfred Schutz's phenomenological approach. Methods of data collection is done by using observation, interviews and documentation. There were 5 informants in this study. In this study using the theory of phenomenology by Alfred Schutz. The results of this study indicate that the phenomena are grouped into 2 motives, namely in order to motives (future actions) the first is as a medium for sharing information on activities carried out aimed at adding friends, the second using the TikTok application as a means of seeking public sympathy for self-existence, the third is the TikTok application as a means to increase self-confidence. While Because motives (actions that sulk in the past when he did it) the first is for reasons only the virtual world rather than the real world.
