Abstract

This study aims to determine the increase in critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students of class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 2 Tapung through the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model. This research was conducted in October 2019, the subjects of this study were students of class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 2 Tapung in the academic year 2019/2020 with 23 students consisting of 13 men and 10 women. The data collecti on in this study is a post test, student test scores to see an increase in student learning outcomes and observation sheets to see the ability to think critically during the learning process. Before applying Problem Based Learning the average student learn ing outcomes were 77.17%. After applying Problem Based Learning which was held as many as 2 cycles, in the first cycle after the action there was a decrease in the student's average score of 65.65. In this cycle 1 repetition, students in the excellent cate gory were 3 students (13%), there were 6 students in the good category (26%) and 14 students in the quite category (60%). After the second cycle of action an increase in the average value of students is 82.86. In this cycle 2 repetition, there were 7 stude nts (30%) in the excellent category, and 16 students (69%) in the good category. While from the observation sheet critical thinking skills in cycle 1 is 69% and cycle 2 is 90% an increase of 21% during the learning process from cycle to cycle 2 takes place . And the results of this study can be concluded that can improve student learning outcomes and critical thinking skills in economic subjects class XI IPS 1 SMA Negeri 2 Tapung in the 2019/2020 school year.
