Abstract
The purpose of this study is to improve the basic long jump technique in class XI IPS students at Smart Indonesia Pekanbaru High School. This type of research is a class action consisting of 2 cycles. The population in this study were all students of class XI Smart Indonesia Pekanbaru, totaling 69 students. Data collection techniques used in total with a variety of considerations from researchers thus the number of samples in this study amounted to 30 students from class XI IPS Smart Indonesia Pekanbaru. The instrument used was the long jump performance. Based on the research of basic long jump technical skills using the play method in class XI IPS Smart Indonesia Pekanbaru High School students, the average ability of students on the initial test in the category was quite good with a percentage of 73.1% in the second cycle of the basic long jump technique using the play method. 79.4% increase.
