Abstract

This research has been carried out in Kamapar Kiri District and in the Basic Laboratory of the Islamic University of Riau, Pekanbaru. This research was carried out for three months from January to March 2021. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological character and shelf life of five types of bananas from Kampar kiri. The research implementation method is data collection in the field by means of observation and identification following the IPGRI Descriptors for banana standard. The data were processed using SAS and DMRT at the 5% level. Next is the MVSP 32 application. Using the UPGMA (Unweight Pair Group Methid With Arithmatic Mean) method on the NTSys-pc 2.1 software. The data is displayed in the form of a descriptive table. The results of the dendrogram show that five types of bananas from Kampar Kiri have a kinship relationship of 84.32%. At the level of similarity of 84.32%, bananas were separated into two large groups. The first group consisted of Ambon bananas only, the second group consisted of Mas, Lidi, Raja and Rattan bananas. The difference is in the character of the color of the banana peel when ripe, the size of the fruit is longer, the petiole is short, the leaf is wide, the height of the tree, and the length of the fruit. The closest kinship is Mas and Lidi bananas, which have a similarity percentage of 95.11%. The results of the observation of the longest shelf-life test were Raja bananas. Lasts 16 days.
