Abstract

Water that is co-produced with oil, at the stage of petroleum production, can cause emulsion problems. The emulsion content of the HJ field in well 01 is 3%. Meanwhile, government regulations allow the content of BS&W (basic sediment and water) to be less than 1% for oil to be marketed in the field (Team's 2009). So the HJ well must be treated to reduce the emulsion level. To get good quality oil without water contained in it, it is necessary to select an effective chemical demulsifier and reverse demulsifier, choose the size of reverse demulsifier and demulsifier, compare samples without demulsifier injection with demulsifier, compare samples without reverse demulsifier injection with reverse demulsifier and testing of samples by injecting a reverse demulsifier with a demulsifier and testing the effect of temperature on the performance of the demulsifier and reverse demulsifier. Based on the bottle test results in the HJ field with sample 01 at a temperature of 185°F, the demulsifier and reverse demulsifier products in the HJ field are the most effective products, with the size of the demulsifier and reverse demulsifier. Tests on the effect of temperature prove that at high temperatures the chemical with the optimum size can work more optimally.
