Abstract

Kelayang irrigation area is one of the irrigation areas in Indragiri Hulu district, Riau province. This irrigation area draws water from the Kelayang weir reservoir which is a tributary of the Maliki river and serves an agricultural area of ±448.20 hectares covering 2 villages in the Rakit Kulim sub-district. This study aims to determine whether the existing tertiary irrigation network is able to meet the water needs of the irrigation network with an area of ±448.20 Ha, and determine the dimensions of the tertiary canal needed in the utilization of an agricultural area of ±448.20 Ha. In this study evaluating the Kelayang irrigation network with an area of ±448.20 Ha, what will be analyzed is the amount of water demand, channel discharge (Tertiary) and the calculation of the dimensions of the complementary building (water building door) Romijin gate which is planned for an agricultural area of ±448.20 Ha. The method used to calculate the evaporation analysis is the Hargreaves method whose analysis uses hydrological and climatological data such as rainfall, air temperature, sunlight, humidity and coefficient of monthly daylight. The method used to analyze the dimensions of the channel in the Kelayang irrigation network is the Strikler Method (Trapezoid) and the Manning Method (Square), and to calculate the building for/tapping, the Romijin measuring instrument formula is used. Based on the results of the calculation of discharge, water requirements and dimensions of tertiary canals with width (b) = 0.4 m, height (h) = 0.35 m, 23 of the 29 existing tertiary canal segments have not been able to meet the utilization of ±448 agricultural areas. ,20 Ha, because the flow of the channel is not able to meet the needs of the planned discharge. After analyzing the calculation, it is found that the ideal channel dimensions for the utilization of an agricultural area of ±448.20 Ha are width (b) = 0.6 m, height (h) = 0.4 m. So it can be concluded that the Kelayang tertiary irrigation channel in certain canal sections is unable to meet the utilization of planned water needs to irrigate agricultural land areas, so it is necessary to review the calculation of the dimensions of the tertiary irrigation canal.
