Abstract

The shape of the molecule is one of the chemical materials that describes the forms of a chemical element. Most of the learning process of molecular shapes today generally only uses text and pictures in books so that it is difficult for students to understand. The shape of a chemical molecule is one of the chemistry subject matter in grade 12 SMA Negeri 1 Kampar Kiri Hulu. One of the obstacles in studying the material of chemical molecular shape is that most students have difficulty in visualizing and understanding molecular shapes with two-dimensional images. Augmented Reality can be a new thing for students so that it can increase effectiveness in the teaching and learning process. Applications are made with Unity using 3D displays with markerless techniques and using the ARCore SDK library. Based on testing at a distance of 10 cm to 200 cm 3D animation can be displayed properly, and animation can be displayed outside or inside the room and can track locations anywhere provided that it has sufficient light intensity above 0 lux. Based on the results of user testing, 90.5% presentation was obtained with 30 respondents, so this application can be implemented as a learning medium to recognize the shape of chemical molecules.
