Abstract

Pre-marriage sexual behavior is defined as the sexual activity done before the marriage itself either through the law or religion way. In the amount of 69,9% teenagers had done pre-marriage sex and 31% of them are university students. This research aimed to know how is the correlation between father attachment and pre- marriage sexual behavior on female students in Pekanbaru City. The research subjects were 167 students from three universities in Pekanbaru City taken by using cluster random sampling and the research instruments were Inventory of Parents and Peer Attachment – (IPPA) sub scale of father attachment and the scale of pre- marriage sexual behavior. Data were analyzed by using correlational test spearman rank order in which obtained r value = -0,021 and sig. value = 0,786 (p > 0,05) which shows that there is no significant correlation between father attachment and pre-marriage sexual behavior. The analysis on each aspect of father attachment found out that there are two aspects that have significant correlation to pre-marriage sexual behavior. First, in the aspect of trust (parent trust) with r value = -0,150 with sig. value = 0,003 which means the higher the trust, then the lower pre-marriage sexual behavior on female students. Second, in the aspect of alienation with r value = 0,160 and sig. value = 0,001 which means the higher the alienation, then higher the students involved in pre-marriage sexual behavior.
