Abstract
Marriage is very important in the lives of indigenous people who do it. Minangkabau in Kenagarian Singkarak in terms of marriage adheres to the exogamy marriage system in which custom in Kenagarian Singkarak requires the people to marry with different ethnic groups. For the general public who want to carry out marriages based on customary law, there are forms of marriage, there are stages that are carried out and there are legal consequences. Because there are many people who want to get married then there are obstacles and prohibitions. The main problem in this research is how the implementation of traditional marriages in the Singkarak area of Solok Regency, as well as what are the obstacles and prohibitions in conducting traditional marriage Kenagarian Singkarak. The method used in this study when viewed from the type of empirical legal research. This study uses primary data obtained by interview and questionnaire as a data collection tool. While seen from its nature, this research is descriptive in nature, that is, the research intended to provide a detailed, clear and systematic description of the main research problem. From the research results it is known that, the customary law community of Kenagarian Singkarak in X Koto Subdistrict, Singkarak, Solok Regency, whose matrilineal kinship system does marriage in the form of a marital marriage which is carried out in stages starting from the sluggishness of Pangka, Batimbang Tando, Bainai Night, marriage contract, mambantai jawi, Manjapuik Bako, Manjapuik Marapulai and Manjalang Sumandan. Marriage which is carried out according to customary law causes the husband to become a person in the kin of the wife, the daughter becomes the successor to the mother's line of marriage and the property of the marriage can be divided into inheritance, assets, joint assets and search assets. In the obstacle when conducting customary marriages for migrants in Kenagarian Singkarak it is necessary to carry out the Mangaku Induak tradition, for native Singkarak there are no barriers and whereas the prohibition in traditional marriages in Kenagarian Singkarak may not be the marriage of one tribe, no marriage between the Koto tribe and the Malay tribe , may not marry between the Dalimo tribe and the Sikumbang tribe and may not marry between the Kenagarian Singkarak community and the Saniang Baka Kenagarian community.
