Abstract

The problem of peat soil in the world of construction is undeniable in the contemporary era. The high settlement occurs when loading has implications on peat soil that has low CBR value and carrying capacity. It is an urgency so that mitigation of settlement can be done immediately which will provide benefits for now and in the future. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding bacillus subtilis and pasur microbes to stabilize peat soil. This research was conducted using bio-grouting method through bacilus subtilis bacteria on peat soil from Buana Makmur Village km.55 Dayun Subdistrict siak Riau Province. This experiment was conducted to determine the CBR value on peat soil where 5% of sand and bacterial reagents of Bacilus subtilis were added with diversified concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% with a sample safety time of 4 days. Bio-grouting technique is an environmentally friendly stabilization method to stabilize soft soils by utilizing microorganisms which involve induction of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) precipitation. The results of this research obtained unsoaked CBR test mixed with 5% sand and bacterial reagents with concentrations of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% respectively obtained CBR values of 0.78%, 0.79%, 0.8%, 0.90%, 0.72% and 0.62% while the test load press strength values were obtained values of 0.30 kg/cm2, 0.31 kg/cm2, 0.31 kg/cm2, 0.42 kg/cm2, 0.41 kg/cm2, and 0.33 kg/cm2. Therefore, the high CBR value and load press strength value is obtained in bacterial reagents with a concentration of 15%. Moreover, permeability coefficient of 1,6 cm/second was obtained on peat soil that had been mixed with 5% sand and 25% bacteria.
