Abstract

The problem in this study is the contribution of arm muscle power to the ability to service above. Determined some weaknesses in doing service for the extracurricular volleyball students of SMK PGRI Pekanbaru, namely that there are still many students who do not understand the top service technique, the ball that reaches over the net when doing service. Seeing that the arm muscle's explosive power less in extracurricular students at SMK PGRI Pekanbaru was obtained from the results of observation for 2 weeks, finding imperfect movements in performing services. The sample in this study was extracurricular students at Pekanbaru 15 PGRI vocational schools. Using a total sampling technique for the whole volleyball extracurricular students at SMK PGRI Pekanbaru. This research form is a correlational study using a two hand medicine ball put test and performing services. Based on the results of the study it was concluded that there was no relationship between arm muscle power and upper service ability in extracurricular students at SMK PGRI Pekanbaru where r count was 0.35 <r table 0.51 and the results of arm muscle power on service ability were 12.25% of the analysis using coefficient of determination.
