Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of application of vermicompost and TSP fertilizer on the growth and production of sorghum plants (Shorgum bicolor L) both interactively and each of the main factors.This research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Kaharudin Nasution street KM 11 No. 113 Air Dingin Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The research was conducted from March to June 2018, The study design used was factorial randomized complete design consisting of 2 factors, the first factor was the dosage of vermicompost (K) which consisted of 4 levels, namely: 0, 240, 480.720 grams per plot and the second factor was the TSP fertilizer (P) dose consisting of 4 levels, namely: 0, 9, 18, 27 grams per plot. The parameters observed were plant height, flowering age, harvest age, panicle length, dry panicle weight, weight of 100 seeds. The last observation data were analyzed statistically and continued with the BNJ advanced test at the level of 5%. The results showed that the interaction of vermicompost and TSP fertilizers significantly affected plant height, panicle length, panicle weight, and weight of 100 seeds. The best treatment is the dosage of vermicompost as much as 720 g / plot and a TSP dosage of 27 g / plot (K3P3). The main effect of vermicompost is real on all parameters observed. The best treatment is giving the dose of vermicompost fertilizer as much as 720 g / plot (K3). The main effect of TSP fertilizer is real on all parameters observed. The best treatment is the administration of 27 g of TSP fertilizer per plot.
