Abstract
Polymer is a common chemical that is frequently used in chemical methods for the prevention of water coning. This chemical polymer is injected by adding Cr3+, as an agent, into the formation water to increase its viscosity with the aim of increasing water mobility so that it does not participate in the production. The method in this research uses a synthesis and hydrolysis method with sulfuric acid with cassava peel altered into biopolymer. On the results of sulfuric acid hydrolysis the rendemen percentage is 62.3% - 90%, the gelation time results show the higher the viscosity value will prolong the gelation process, the viscosity results show the higher the concentration will increase the viscosity at concentrations of 1000 ppm, 2000 ppm, and 3000 ppm at salinity of 5,000 ppm, 10,000 ppm, 15,000 ppm and at temperatures of 60°C, 70°C, and 80°C. In the results of the compatibility solution at concentrations of 1000 ppm and 2000 ppm compatible, there is no precipitate and it was clear.
