Abstract
The pipes used by oil and gas companies to produce oil and gas are very vulnerable to corrosion caused by damage from chemical reactions between the pipe content and its environment, One way to inhibit corrosion is by adding inhibitors. Guava leaf extract is one of the natural ingredients that are easily preserved and can be used as an inhibitor to inhibit the rate of corrosion due to the tannin content of 12.83% in guava leaves obtained during testing with HPLC characterization. Compared to chemical inhibitors, the use of inhibitors from organic materials is more economical and safe to use. Immertion test was conducted on pipes in PH solution 3 on corrosive medium with 3 differences in immersion time and 4 differences in inhibitor concentration, for 7 days, 10 days, 15 days and concentrations of 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm to determine the effectiveness and performance of inhibitors obtained the highest effectiveness results in 7-day immersion with the addition of inhibitors as much as 2000 ppm resulting in 82% efficiency with corrosion rate of 1.252817378 mpy in API 5 grade pipes B. So that organic inhibitors of guava leaves are effectively used in acidic media with proper concentrations
