Abstract

Groundwater is a natural resource that has an important role in various aspects of human life. A densely populated area close to river can affect the quality of groundwater used by the community. The aims of this study were to determine the distribution and direction of groundwater level flow value, the feasibility of physical chemical groundwater quality, the zone mapping of groundwater quality distribution, and the condition of groundwater facies in Sri Meranti Village, Rumbai District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. The parameters tested were color, taste, smell, temperature, dissolved solid (TDS), electrical conuductivity and pH. There were 40 dug well stations analyzed, overall, the dominant groundwater color was yellow, the dominant groundwater taste was tasteless, the dominant groundwater odor was smelly, temperature values ranged from 29.9 ° C - 34.8 ° C, the value of dissolved solids ranged from 83.6 mgl - 351.1 mgl, the value of electrical conductivity ranged from 14.29 µs/m - 76.5 µs/m, pH between 6.48 - 7.92 and Fe+3 3.73 mg/l in sample 1 and 4.57 mg/l in sample 2. The results of groundwater facies analysis based on Kurlov classification method, Stiff diagram, and Piper diagram showed that the name of groundwater was sodium bicarbonate in sample 1, and sodium chloride in sample 2. Groundwater in the study area was not suitable for daily use because the values of each parameter were generally not in accordance with the quality standards based on the Regulation of Health Minister No.492/ MENKES/PER/2010.
