Abstract
This study aims to examine the formation of character through Silat Perisai in Empat Balai village, Kuok sub-district, Kampar district, Riau province. The theory used in this study is the theory of character formation proposed by Koesoema (2010:80) which consists of habituation of polite behavior, awareness of cleanliness and order. And the habit of being honest and disciplined. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Respondents in this study were teachers/trainers of Silat Shield. The results of this study reveal that the values that must be instilled in the fighter are being honest in all things and in doing things you can't do as you please, you must have a high discipline attitude, both time discipline and discipline in following orders and applicable rules. Factors in character building in Silat Shield are biological factors which learn this Silat Shield with their own parents and environmental factors where children want to learn Silat Shield because of the invitation of their friends and encouragement from the local community.
