Abstract

For midwives the interaction that is built in a practice of service to patients or clients to help a healing is therapeutic communication. By having skills in therapeutic communication, midwives will find it easier to establish a trusting relationship with clients so that they are more effective in achieving the goals of midwifery care that are applied by providing professional services. It can be seen that excessive anxiety, fear and worry occur during the process of childbirth. This is where the role of the midwife is to be able to assist patients in solving their problems. This study uses qualitative research methods. Qualitative research is research that intends to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by research subjects such as behavior, perception, motivation, action and others. Here, a midwife interacts directly with pregnant women patients, so that they can find out firsthand what complaints are felt by the patient and it is necessary to provide a lot of education so that the patient will be calmer in dealing with the delivery process because later many unexpected things will happen without us realizing it. In this process, the midwife at the hospital uses the midwifery action plan as a midwifery reference in helping pregnant women during their pregnancy at the Kasih Ibu Hospital. The stages in which midwives can foster therapeutic communication relationships and the stages are as follows: preparation stage, orientation stage, work stage, midwife termination stage is expected to provide more early education to the wider community from remote areas though. Because they still lack knowledge about what if they become pregnant women, what else with the high risks that will occur.
