Abstract

Regional head elections are one of the means of general elections which are essentially a tangible manifestation of democracy carried out by the state as a full form of people's sovereignty. This institution was formed to strengthen the pillars of democracy, minimize the occurrence of fraud in the elections. In this case, Bawaslu has a role to oversee the election and take action against violations that occur so that regional head elections can be held in an honest, fair and quality manner. The law that regulates the position, duties, and authorities of Bawaslu is Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Regional Head Elections. Based on this, the question arises: What are the Duties and Authorities of Bawaslu in Resolving Violations in the election of the Regent and Deputy Regent of Rokan Hulu according to Law No. 10 of 2016? Second, How Does Bawaslu Resolve Election Violations? This research is an observational research. It is a research using an empirical approach. The prevalence in observational research as a source of data is primary data and secondary data. primary data is data obtained from research respondents by using data collection tools in the form of interviews and or questionnaires while secondary data in the form of books, literature, journals, articles, research reports, decisions on cases of international treaties and so on. The main task of Bawaslu is the prevention and prosecution of election violations. In addition to these main tasks, Bawaslu also has several other tasks. In carrying out its duties, Bawaslu has the authority to receive reports of alleged violations of the implementation of laws and regulations, to receive reports of alleged administrative violations, violations of the code of ethics, electoral criminal violations, other legal violations and to review reports and findings, resolve regional election disputes whose decisions are final and final. bindings.
