Abstract

This study aims to determine the aesthetics of the Banjar traditional wedding dress in Tembilahan Indragiri Hilir. This study uses the theory put forward by Djelantik with a discussion of aesthetics about the elements in the aesthetics of traditional clothes. This research method uses descriptive qualitative analysis using data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the Banjar bride in Tembilahan Indragiri Hilir actually uses a good dress for head jewelry, tops (shirts) and bottoms (skirts/pants). Head jewelry for Banjarese traditional brides uses bogem, crown/amar, rocking flowers, jurai and flowers, while the groom only uses tanjak. The clothes used are short-sleeved poko shirts, the groom wears pants while the bride wears a long skirt. In terms of color, Tembilahan generally also uses bright colors in general, other traditional wedding dresses such as red, yellow, and green. These colors are a strong symbol in a marriage. In the theme element, in general, Banjar brides carry a strong theme of teaching with the Islamic religion. On the motif element, they use the typical Halilipan animal motif to symbolize humility.
