Abstract

This study aims to find out what the process of cultivating the Hijrah dance by Faizal Andri during the COVID-19 pandemic was virtually in Pekanbaru, Riau Province. The theory used is the theory by Alma M. Hawkins about the process of cultivating dance and Soedarsono's theory as a supporting theory. The method used is descriptive research with interview techniques conducted directly to Faizal Andri himself. The results of this study indicate that the process of cultivating the Hijrah dance consists of looking for ideas, the process of seeking information, the process of imagining, the process of determining in cultivation, the exploration process, the process of transferring motion, the evaluation process and the last is the performance process. Hijrah dance in this case focuses on movements that reflect the attitude of the hijrah itself because it relates to the attitude of one's spiritual journey so that the movements presented are related to the high Islamic nature.
