Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE WITH ACADEMIC PROCRASTINATION IN STUDENTS IN THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC Muhammad Iqbal 168110051 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY RIAU ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY ABSTRACT The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak has spread to various regions in Indonesia, including Pekanbaru. In the education sector, the teaching and learning process has undergone significant changes, the learning process which is usually in the classroom is now being shifted to online learning through media or applications, causing various changes in the way of learning. This study aims to see the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic procrastination in students during the covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a quantitative correlation method using two research scales, the emotional intelligence scale with a reliability alpha is 0.918 and an academic procrastination scale with a reliability alpha is 0.909. The population of this research is the students of SMA PGRI Pekanbaru. The sampling technique is simple random sampling so that everyone has the same opportunity to be the research subject. The research subjects consisted of 118 respondents. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and academic procrastination and the correlation coefficient was -0.324, which means the direction of the relationship is negative.
