Abstract

This study aims to determine the interest in becoming a teacher among students of the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at the Islamic University of Riau. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The population in this study was 235 people and a sample of 148 people. The data collection techniques used were are questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis technique. The results showed that the interest in becoming a teacher among students of the Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at the Islamic University of Riau was in the interest category with a percentage of 63% in class 2017, 64% in class 2018, 84% in class 2019 students, and 85% of students in the class of 2020. This is viewed from the aspect of cognition (knowledge/understanding) with the category of interest, emotion (feelings) with the category of interest, and conation (action) with the category of less interest. So it can be concluded that students are interested in becoming teachers.
