Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out how the performance of employees at the Youth and Sports Office of Riau Province. The theory used in this study is the theory of Wirawan, 2012; 5 with indicators of Work Skills, Responsibility, Initiative, Discipline, Cooperation. This research method is a descriptive survey using quantitative methods. The population in this study were 57 people. The sampling technique in this study used a random sampling technique for employees and athletes, the sample in this study the authors set as many as 57 people. The results showed that based on the results of questionnaires and interviews regarding Job Skills indicators, there were several factors that caused the low work performance of the Riau Province Youth and Sports Office employees, firstly, there was still a reluctance for most employees to take courses or training to improve the employee's abilities. Second, the lack of work performance is caused by a mismatch between the educational background of the employee and the duties and responsibilities of the employee at work. Indicators of Responsibility can be concluded that the employee's lack of responsibility for the work he has done, if the results are good then recognized, of course with this kind of behavior is not very good for employees in carrying out their work, because it will cause friction among fellow employees. Indicators of Initiative can be concluded that a person's decision-making greatly affects the performance of its members, the lack of attention and supervision of the leadership of the employee greatly influences the performance of the employee in carrying out his work. Leadership is one of the most important factors in determining the success of an agency's performance. the low initiative of employees in carrying out their work. This of course greatly affects the performance of the employee himself.
