Abstract

Land as a supporting of a building has a very important role because the level of soil hardness strongly influences the bearing capacity of the foundation. This research is raised the problem of foundation which is based on soil that has decreased in qc value below the foundation of UIR Biotech Building. This research is aimed to find the value of the land safe number based on a comparison of the allowable soil stength and the increase in stress that occurs. The data analyzed in this study were obtained from CV. MOMET AREA. In analyzing the load that works due to the building is calculated using the SAP 2000 program, to analyze the increase in soil stress by the analytical method and finite element method (Plaxis 2D). Analytical methods used the theory of Boussinesq and Cerruti. These soil stresses ware compared to the allowable soil strength with various safety number values (SF). From the results of the study it was found that the highest value of stress increase occurs at the base of the foundation and its value decreases with increasing depth. The allowable soil strength was directly proportional to cone resitance. The higher the value of the cone resistance (qc), the higher the value of the allowable soil strenght. Theoretically, the increase in vertical stress could be supported by the allowable soil stength by SF of 5. The vertical stress value of the MEH could be supported by the allowable soil stength by SF of 3.5. Therefore, it can be said that the value of the bearing capacity of the foundation is quite large due to the value a safety factor that is 3.5 to 5.
