Abstract

The era of globalization causes rapid development in various fields, one of which is technology and transportation. Advances in communication technology, especially in the online world, have been used by the community as a tool for doing business and even for political purposes. Based on the background, this research is directed to examine how is consumer protection for grab-food services in the grab application based on article 4 of law number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection and what are the obstacles in consumer protection for grab-food services in the grab application based on article 4 law number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection. The research method used in this study is Observational Law Research by means of a survey to obtain the required data, the authors immediately conducted a field research using data collection tools in the form of interviews and questionnaires. Sources of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The data analysis used was descriptive qualitative. The method of drawing conclusions uses a deductive method, namely drawing conclusions from a general problem to the concrete problems faced The results show that Consumer Protection for Grabfood Services in the Grab Application has not gone well due to the lack of knowledge and insight from service providers, especially the intermediary, namely the driver PT. Grab Indonesia and also the lack of a forum for distribution and resolution of consumer complaints to the driver, which is not wise to see if the solution is only based on the consumer's perspective to the service provider company, namely PT. Grab Indonesia and not through mediation and supervision first through deliberation between consumers and drivers. Constraints in Consumer Protection for Grabfood Services in the Grab Application based on Article 4 of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection, which is influenced by various factors, including: lack of evaluation and also providing knowledge to drivers in serving consumers as stated in Article 4 of the Law Consumer Protection Act, lack of awareness of consumers to achieve their rights, there is no standardization in providing services to service connoisseurs, namely consumers.
