Abstract

Nenek Batang Sagar ritual is a ritual before carrying out a wedding that begins with taking ablution, reading Alfatihah and reading Sholawat after preparing offerings such as limes, cold, sesugi, setawar, turmeric caress, jerangau, botih, mayang areca nut, green coconut oil, and turmeric rice. . The method used is descriptive qualitative analysis method with the aim of providing an in-depth and detailed description of the Nenek Batang Sagar Ritual. The type of research used is the type of Primary and Secondary data, using these types of data to facilitate researchers in describing problems in the implementation of the ritual. The theory used by the author is the theory of Soedarsono (2008: 88), rituals have characteristics, namely: 1. The time the ceremony is carried out must be the chosen time, 2. The place for the ceremony must be the chosen place, 3. People who are supporters in carrying out the ceremony. the ritual must be spiritually clean, 4. The ritual ceremony must be led by the chosen one, 5. The offering is a complement to the ceremony that should not be abandoned. And using the theory of Hamidy's Law (2012: 49) it states that the existing value systems in society are: 1. Religious Value System, 2. Customary Value System, 3) Tradition Value System, 4) Social Value System. The method used by the author is the method of data collection techniques using the techniques of Observation, Interview, and Documentation. Data analysis techniques are divided into Data Reduction, Data Display, Conclusions and verification. The study was conducted three days before the implementation of the wedding and carried out at night after the Isha prayer until it was finished. The research was conducted in Buluh Nipis Village, Siak Hulu District, Kampar Regency. Those who follow the ritual are 4 people, namely Khairun (Alim Ulama), Norman (Shaman), Ibai (Ninik Mamak Tribe), Supar (Ninik Mamak Tribe). This ritual is led by Alim Ulama. The offerings that are needed are lime, sedingin, sesugi, setawar, turmeric belai, jerangau, botih, mayang betel nut, green coconut oil, and turmeric rice. Analysis technique with data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing. The results of the study conclude that the purpose of carrying out this ritual is to take the blessing of Grandma Batang Sagar's purity and to keep away from the cruelty of spirits and rough creatures.
