Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of modern music culture (band) extracurricular activities at SMA Nergeri 1 Keritang, Kotabaru, Kecamatan Keritang, Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir T.A 2020/2021. The theory of extracurricular implementation according to PERMENDIKBUD extracurricular implementation is a curricular activity carried out by students outside of learning hours for intracurricular and co-curricular activities (PERMENDIKBUD Number 62, 2014). In this study using descriptive analysis method using qualitative methods. Data collection techniques were taken by means of observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results showed that (1) the development of extracurricular bands at SMA Negeri 1 Keritang was very good from 2016 until now; (2) extracurricular activities are usually held once a week, namely on Fridays from 15:00 to 16:30 WIB. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the band extracurricular is held every 2 weeks with the same day and the same hour; (3) the coach assesses the band members in the first way for their discipline, the second for playing musical instruments and vocal techniques, the third for mastery of the material, the fourth for cohesiveness, the fifth for sound arrangement, and the sixth for performance; (4) each meeting at the end of the month the coaches conduct individual tests in order to know the extent to which their abilities have developed; (5) the facilities and infrastructure needed in the band's extracurricular activities are a music studio, electricity with a stable wattage, equipment for musical instruments such as 2 electric guitars, bass, drums, microphone, sound for guitar, bass and microphone, guitar effects, guitar stand, basses and microphones.
