Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between sense of humor and stress levels in nurses who work in Pekanbaru Hospital. The theory of stress used is based on the theory of Robbins (2002). There are 3 aspects, namely: physiological aspects, psychological aspects and behavioral aspects. The theory of sense of humor used is based on the theory of Thorson and Powell (1993). There are 4 components, namely: humor production, coping with humor, humor appreciation, and attitude toward humor. This research was conducted using quantitative methods and data collection techniques in this study used a sense of humor and work stress research scale. The research subjects were 88 nurses who worked in Pekanbaru hospital. Subjects were selected using purposive sampling method. The research data was processed using product moment correlation analysis, which wanted to see the relationship between two variables with the help of the SPSS 20.00 for Windows program. Based on the coefficient value obtained r = -0.454 with p = 0.000 (p <0.05), which means that there is a negative relationship between the sense of humor variable and the level of work stres
