Abstract

ABSTRACT Changing the physical properties of mud one reason is the presence of materials that are not desirable into the mud during the drilling operation, a contamination that often occurs contamination of NaCl as a result of salt contamination high enough into the mud systems that change the properties and rheology the sludge. Some of the additive in the form of chemicals (both produced specifically for the purpose of drilling mud and common chemicals) and minerals are needed to address the problem of contaminated sludge formation NaCl or the formation of high salinity, One way to overcome the contamination situation by adding barite and cmc additive industry, to determine the effect of the additive on rheology properties of drilling mud contaminated we conducted this study. The additive used in this study is barite and industrial cmc concentration of each composition each - each 1-5 grams. Rheology test conducted is a test of plastic viscosity, yield point, gel strength, filtrate volume. Loss filtration testing done by using a Low Pressure Low Temperature (LPLT). Rheology testing such as plastic viscosity, yield point and gel strength using a Fann VG Meter. The results showed that the optimum point of mud rheology after the addition of additives are the test results LS + NaCl + CMC 1-5 grams of the CMC concentration of 4 grams with a value of 10 cp Plastic viscosity, yield point 9 lb / 100ft2, and gel strength of 0.5 lb / 100ft2 with filtrasion lost an average of 9.4 ml per 10-60 minute so that indirect use of additive Barite and CMC can make improvements in the conditions of sludge contaminated NaCl.
