Abstract

The developing of technology give impact for educational media and assessment tool. The existence of application that support by technology have been used in various school creates new assessment style especially in teaching and learning English. One of application that have been use by the English teacher was Quizizz.Quizizz as an online assessment that can be used with multiplayer activities that allows all students to practice together by using their computer, gadget or laptop with attractive display and game setting. This study was conducted with aimed to know students’ perception on the use of the Quizizz as an assessment tool by the teacher in English subject of ninth grade students at SMPN 34 PEKANBARU. This research design of this study was qualitative descriptive. The subjects of this research were 36 students of ninth grade at SMPN 34 PEKANBARU. The data was collected by distribute the questionnaire to 36 students and interview five students. The data analysis of this research was use Likert Scale for questionnaire and descriptive for interview. The result of this research showed positive perception by the students on the use of Quizizz by the teacher as an assessment tool in English subject. In conclusion, the students give very positive perception on the use Quizzizz Application as assessment tool in English subject. Students were agree that Quizizz is interesting and fun, Quizizz has an attractive display, Quizizz make them cant cheat during the test, Quizizz creates a competitive atmosphere and Quizizz is better than the traditional test. Some of students also give positive respond regarding the use of Quizizz are encouraging students confidence, increasing students motivation and Quizizz is improving students’ English skills.
