Abstract

Reduplication is often used in regional languages, especially in the Toba Batak language in Sialang Palas Village, Lubuk District in Siak Regency. Toba Batak language is one of the regional languages ​​used and maintained by its speakers, namely the Batak ethnic community. The Toba Batak language is unique in terms of form and meaning, the uniqueness in terms of shape related to the number of syllables produced can be different when translated into Indonesian and in the Toba Batak language there are also forms such as reduplication, but if translated into Indonesian be the root word and not reduplication. In terms of meaning, there is a change in meaning when a word undergoes a reduplication process and the tone is also partially repeated, but does not change the meaning of its basic form. Based on this phenomenon, the formulation of the problem in this study is (1) What is the form of reduplication of Toba Toba Batak language in Sialang Palas Village, Lubuk District in Siak Regency (2) What is the meaning of Toba Batak language reduplication in Sialang Palas Village, Lubuk District in Siak Regency. Based on the results and discussion, this study aims to describe, analyze, interpret the forms and meanings of reduplication in the Toba Batak language in Sialang Palas Village, Lubuk District in Siak Regency. This research is a type of qualitative research. The sources of data and data in this study were resource persons who met the criteria and through the speech of Toba Batak speakers in Sialang Palas Village, Lubuk District in Siak Regency. The method used is descriptive method. The technique used is observation technique, recording technique, note-taking, fishing rod. Through the research that the author did, the results of the study found 4 forms of reduplication, namely whole reduplication, partial reduplication combined with affix reduplication, repetition with phoneme changes and there were 10 reduplication meanings, namely, (1) 'many' meaning, (2) 'many' meaning. , (3) the meaning of unconditional, (4), the meaning of 'resembling those in the basic form', (5) the meaning of 'actions in the basic form are carried out repeatedly, (6) the meaning of 'actions in the basic form are carried out comfortably , relaxed, happy', (7) the meaning of 'mutual', (8) the meaning of 'related to work in the basic form', (9) the meaning of 'the highest level that can be achieved', (10) repetition that does not change the meaning of the basic form rather it expresses the intensity of feeling'.
